A fantastic concert

Thanks God I added this little word "probably" in the first sentence of my feed posted yesterday. Otherwise I had to waite some more hours for this one... but of course there is a special reason for this - now definitely - very last post in 2006:
Today I had the unique chance to hear the dress rehearsal of the annual "New Years Concert" of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra which will be broadcasted live into many countries around the world on January 1th. Our trip started at 04:45am with the departure from our barracks in Salzburg. After some 4 hours of bus driving we arrived in Vienna and also had time to drink some tasty coffee in a typical coffeeshop just opposite of the opera. The whole event started at 11am and fate was on my side when our boss gave us the tickets. I got a seat in a box on the first floor which normaly costs some € 200,--! It was quite a good view down to the orchestra :)
The concert itself was marvellous. The orchestra - this year conducted by Zubin Metha - performed without any mistake. The thing which impressed me most was this complete silence during Johan Strauss' "Karneval in Venedig" and the world famous "Donauwalzer". You could really feel the concentration of the whole audience! The only thing which annoyed me were the clapping hands during the last piece, the "Radetzky March". I want to hear music and no clapping hands! But this is no reason for being angry. It was a fantastic trip which will have no sequeal for me to 99,9% - and the best - it cost me absolutely nothing!

Creating this post I noticed something nice: Writing in English is much easier if you really WANT to write a little bit about what really interests you!
I will not read this short article anymore before publishing it. If there is any mistake - it just doesn't matter. This is my English level at the end of the year 2006.

Have a nice time!

1-day illness

Welcome to my probably very last post in 2006! I tried to write this one a little bit earlier, but my brain just didn’t want to do it in English. But Richi complaint about the long break and so here I am.
At the beginning of course the most important to mention: Yesterday was a really bad day for me. I couldn’t sleep the whole night because I felt sick and had to vomit a few times. So the trip to Gastein (to my aunt) for my first snowboard session this season was impossible. I just carried on sleeping and vomiting the whole day and ate just one piece of toast and one plate of soup. In the afternoon I had temperature (38,3°C) but today it’s gone a I feel quite well again.

On Wednesday Wolfi, Warti an I made a jog of about 80min up to the “Stoawandl” where we made a little photo session. You can watch them here. In my opinion they are just great!

Tomorrow I drive to Vienna for listening to the dress rehearsal of the New Years Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The normal price for this pre-concert ranges from € 20,- up to € 380,-, but I get it for free because it’s kind of a military-music-excursion. I probably will never get the chance to her this concert a second time, so I’m really lucky.

I wish you just the best for 2007!

Time to celebrate

14 months of military service (2 months basic training, 12 month military music) are over since yesterday. The last week was like a non-stop party for my colleagues dropping out now, but of course me and the other 7 guys who prolonged for 4 more months did it the same way. Wednesday evening we went eating together in a nice restaurant in Wals and the last night we spent in “Hetei” in Ainring (just across the border to Germany).
Unfortunately we had to play a very last time on Friday. It’s unbelievable how long speeches of politicians and generals can last! So the whole event took 1,5 hours……

Today we had some training on the track in Salzburg. I did a 2000m test because I need to know my time for a sport-motoric (I really don’t know if this word exist or is correct in English, sorry) on Tuesday. I managed to do it in 07:01 min – quite OK considering my small amount of training. Afterwards I did a Coopers Test (12 min of running), but I didn’t run 100%, and made the first to laps at Richi’s pace. After 12min I stopped at 2989 meters.
I hope I can increase my training from now on!
